Welcome to CoffeeSnobs mate. If coffee is your thing, then you are in the right place.
I know nothing about that grinder, but someone who does should be along soon.
In the meantime, enjoy your browsing--over a cup of your favourite.

    Attention Andy!!!

A new Coffee Snob was born today. Bidtfaun came around for a couple of rounds with the Corretto followed by some Yirg triples from the new naked PF (thanks Pedro). I think hell be the first one logging into Januarys Beanbay to buy some Green!! :)

    Welcome Bidtfaun..... [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Im sure youll be very happy with the NS "Grinta". NS manufacture an excellent range of grinders and although I havent had a play with the Grinta in particular, I see no reason why it wouldnt be able to perform up to par with the Gaggia Classic.

All the best mate and Happy Brewing... :)

cheers Mal...yeah from what I have read the Grinta has a stepless adjustment which will hopefully mean no modding needed at all 8-).... hopefully it arrives before Xmas!

and thanks to Evan for introducing me to the world of roasting...cant wait to give it a try! :)

Used the Grinta for the first time this morning....found a decent grind setting after about 4 runs thru the Gaggia Classic...too coarse at first..then too fine..now appears to be about right, getting a decent crema...

grinds come out a little clumpy, and the timer on it can be a little annoying, but am getting used to it...will have to get Evan over so he can criticize my setup :)

ok....first drama with this grinder (didnt take long)....grinder seized and so I dismantled it...found a fair amount of ground coffee that had resinated due to the burrs touching and generating heat...it would seem that the burrs do not sit true to each other, and touch once per revolution if the adjustment is set to a finer grind...I cleaned it out, and after reassembling I spun the motor by hand with a 10mm socket on an extension until I found a setting where the burrs dont contact each other. threw in some beans and ground away...all good...seems to give an ok pour and decent crema....so Ill stick with it for the moment

hopefully this wont happen again..but I might just send an email to the retailer and also NS outlining the problem....

my advice to all in the market for a grinder....dont get one of these as build quality appears to be a bit shody (unless I just got a dodgy one), and for only AUD$100 more a Rocky would seem to be a better investment from what I have read...
