I think this will definitely work on pretty much any Mazzer doser. I think I have to give it a go on the mini when I get home to BNE.

Quite a novel variation but Id be worried about grounds getting caught inside.

It would be easier to place a spout made of aluminium or a thin sheet metal using the two screws on the outside of the doser.
Then you dont even need to take it apart and theres no chance of grinds getting caught.

If you go to his site to download the template he even admits its prone to clogging and theres an alternate shape.

    Re: Mazzer mod

You need something thicker than a coke can.
Ive been told you can find something at Bunnings.
What Ive seen is about 1mm thick.

Have a look at the pictures in this old thread http://coffeesnobs.com.au/YaBB.pl?num=1169720281/25#25

Its aluminium plate she said you can buy from Bunnings.
From memory it would be about 1mm thick.

It should be easy to work.
Two holes in the top corners to screw onto a Mazzer or Macap and two cuts at the level of the bottom of the doser.
Bend the metal, at the cuts under the doser, and voila, you have a spout.

looking at the outlet on my super jolly, I imagine you could make the spout bolt insode the outlet rather than the outside to make it look nicer. I am just getting used to my super jolly, and am making a bit of mess. Ill give it a few months, but if I am still making a mess I think I may do one of these.

Tony you need to make a small cone its very easy once you know how to, but you need a drafting set [compass, rule, square and pencil] . Your best bet may be to use a small funnel and cut it down so it fits under the doser hole and above the porta filter. You can cut the plastic so that it can attach to the screw on the outside of the doser.
I could draw you a template but I dont have a compass at home and my dividers are at work [which is closed untill the 12 jan]

Thx martybean~~Just wondering what is the difference between MAzzer SJ clone and mine? Is the doser is slighty bigger in the SJ?

Tony my grinder holds about 500gms in the doser your grinder holds about 200gms. The doser on mine has a diameter of 120 mm .I have managed to find a compass and have made a little coffee spout out of brass if you want its yours.

I have started using the Schectermatic ::) described Here I printed it on a sheet of clear plastic used for overhead projectors, only did it yesterday, so far it is working well and being clear plastic it looks alright.
[edit]I should add grinds can catch around it but are easily dislodged by a bit of a wriggle up and down[/edit]

Looks good, I think with the one I made the fingers may have to be removed. That is much simpler

Just printed out the spout temp on card paper and fitted it. Doesnt seem to fit that well in my grinder, the opening in the grinder isnt round also it sits much closer to the fingers.

Mazzer opening is not round, it takes a bit of fiddling to get it in, maybe yours is a bit different to the genuine. I originally used a paper one the plastic seems to work better.

    Mazzer doser spout mod

I added this mod to my mini yesterday and its going gangbusters.

Early on I had it block up in the funnel (perhaps a side effect of dosing too slowly at one point) but otherwise, its been smooth sailing from then on.

Its throwing slightly to the right now, but not enough to be any real concern. *The fall is wonderful and the grinds look less clumped than they sometimes did before.

And.... the mess is nearly gone!!!! *I can clear the doser entirely and have the mess drop pretty much directly between the fork arms instead of all over the bench!

Oh, and the result in the cup is better (I know, how strange)

    Jamver,
Can you post a pic of your mod?
Also, Im thinking of doing the "doserless" mod - ie replacing the doser with a 2litre bottle.
    There are detailed instructions here:
    http://www.home-barista.com/espresso-grinders/mazzer-super-jolly-2-liter-bottle-doserless-modification-t3545.html
But those are for an SJ, and Im wondering if the Mini doser attachment is the same. Looks to me like it only has two screws. Anyone know for sure?

flatwhite, I reckon the plastic bottle looks a bit cheap. Id look more at a black funnel like juanjo uses in this vid (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NrnIfQ8q22o&feature=channel) and the paintbrush pushing it through the mesh should get rid of all the clumps. just my second crack ;D
