    Earth Wire Where? Cimbali Jnr

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
I have recently purchased a Cimbali Jnr (1995 Vintage). I have removed the covers for cleaning and there is an earth wire floating free inside as per picture. The other end goes to the common earth pole at the base of the machine. Anyone know where this needs to be connected? Thanks.

My gut says on the Motor... Looking at the size of the connector and the length...

The grinder motors are often rubber mounted to reduce vibration, and thus the extra wire to ensure that all the potential electrical hazards are earthed.

I also get the feeling that there may have been some mods performed - as by the wiring that I see, however not having another one to compare... It is only a guess.

Sounds feasable, and you are probably correct about the mods. This machine was drenched recently when a roof gave way under torrential rain. Has been repaired (including new burrs) and used since, but apparantly has an intermittant "no go" fault which I am yet to encounter. I am going to check and clean all exposed terminals plus check resistance across the switched terminals in the on/off switch, and hopefully eliminate this fault. Once this is sorted I can begin work on the M27 Start which came with the grinder...

Connected earth to motor base. Dismantled on/off switch and cleaned coffee residue & gunk from switch internals, contacts are showing a little wear but not too bad. Reassembled and tested, all sounds good just need to dial it in and hopefully a few years of trouble free grinding ahead.
