    Hi Mac,

In this range, Id suggest a Rancilio Rocky doserless. Better still, if your budget is flexible would be to spend a bit more and get a Compak K3T.

The Rocky works very well with the EM6910 from my experience - much better than a cheaper/sunbeam grinder

    Agreed.
I started with the Sunbeam grinder but quickly upgraded to something better.

The more you can spend now on a grinder the better coffee youll get and now and in the future if you upgrade the machine.

    Agreed again.
I have both the EM6910 and the Rocky grinder and imho are a great combo.

Generally speaking, you should get the best grinder that you can afford, regardless of which espresso machine you are pairing it with.

I think that the cheap conical grinders like the sunbeam and the stepless iberital give great grind quality for the money ... but nothing else about them is especially good; they are noisy, slow and somewhat messy. A rancilio rocky would be good value second-hand, but if you are buying new, it is well and truly worthwhile spending the extra hundred bucks on a compak K-3 touch. The compak delivers the grind quality and adjustability of grinders a few hundred dollars more expensive and is probably the best value serious domestic grinder on the market today.

    Hope that helps,

    Luca
