Mazzer Mini - stray grinds in the dosing chamber

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Question from a new Mazzer Mini owner. I am thinking whether I need to do anything about stray grinds that MM leaves in the dosing chamber when you swipe all of the ground coffee.
Ive heard from a few people that its quite easy to fix this little problem. Ive seen that Luca once mentioned duct tape as an easy solution. My question is, did anyone do it? the task of putting some duct tape on the swipe is easy. I am a bit worried about taking the dosing chamber apart. Is it straightforward enough? am I risking having to deal with some springs or stuff like that when I unscrew the top screw holding the swipes?
    Any recommendations?

Its easy - see this thread:

Make sure you use gaffa or duct tape as it is stiffer and a little wider than electrical tape and you wont have to screw the adjustment screw down so far and therefore wont have to dispense the minimum dose each thwack of the dosing lever

    Gday Chartres,

Removing the mechanism if straightforward. *There may be a spring from memory but just take your time and lay things out. *I dont remember it being difficult at all. *The tape mod works well and is worth the 15 minutes. *I did mine 6 months ago and havent needed to replace it yet. *Good luck.

I did it as soon as I got mine. Have also put a clear plastic cup over the centre (cut 6 notches in it to make it stay). THe cup isnt visible when the doser lid is on, and combined with the duct tape method and a small paintbrush, my doser has very little grinds left in it. Easy to take the dosing mechanism out and put back together, plenty of "how-to" guides on the net.
