will a firm tamp with coarser grind equate near enough to normal?

hi. just wondering. ive got a bodum grinder which im pretty sure doesnt grind fine enough for espresso[it doesnt clump or get stuck, also the shot looks a light brown colour even with a full city roast, not the nice oaker red colour ive seen in all the pictures]

will a really hard tamp achieve the desired result or do i need a better grinder? if so will the sunbeam 480 do as im on a tight budget, or is it worth saving for a rocky or similar? *cheers!

I say no; you need a better grinder.
If youre really strapped, the 0450 is a bit cheaper.
