    Nuovo Simonelli Commerial Grinder

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Hi guys & girls!

A few months back i bought a grinder off ebay..you know the deal..i was looking to upgrade from a Sunbeam bur grinder and i couldnt help myself :):):)

Its a Nuovo Simonelly MDXA commercial grinder with 290w motor and doser, 1.5kg bean hopper. It had a years worth od demestic use on new blades before i got a hold of it and it has see a little bit of action since receiving it.
My only problem with it is...its massive! well not massive but in my little kitchen sitting nex to my Gaggia its trully a monster! Even if i took the bean hopper off it is still a larger unit!

Anyway its in great condition and does everything i could want with its infinitie adjustment worm screw. Im wondering if there is anyone else in the world who had gone the overkill route as i have? Did you end up regretting such a larger unit? or is it as piece of mind as im hoping it will be?

Any feedback on Nuovo Simonelly commercial grinders would be good anyway...

    Thanks Guys :)

There is no such thing as overkill here.

    The bigger the better :D

And no I have not regretted since.

It will last longer than quite a few espresso machine upgrades

Built tough so you may need to also mention it in your will :D

Yeah! I bought it with machine uprgrades in mind..the gaggia has been on my bench for a little while now..it was never meant to be ther but it was another ebay bargain.

I recently have gone back to baristing from being a drunks labourer(barman) And work on a extremely quality peice of equipment called a Mirage Tripplette Clasic from Kees van der Westen using E61 group heads... I must say, if i wasnt taken already i would ask this machine to marry me! Apparently there are only 4 of these in the country?
Anyway...i am now looking for some sort of E61 group head HX machine that will hopefully keep me satisfies for a couple of years :) wish me luck!

I have gone overkill in terms of the amount of equipment Ive accumulated in a very short period of time. In the last 2.5 months Ive bought myself, in order of aqcuisition:

    EM6910
    EM0480
    Quaha Napoletana II
    Mokita Combi
    Isomac Granmacinino
Compak K3 Elite (in the mail)
+ multiple tampers, knock boxes and other sundries

I use the SB duo at home and the Napoletana at work. The Mokita is in the shed as a spare. The Isomac grinder is currently unused.
I just bought the K3 today and eagerly await its arrival.

I think some of this equipment will be appearing for sale shortly on this site. The plan is to keep the Napoletana at work where its been doing a very servicable job so far.

I will sell the Sunbeam duo and the Isomac grinder then use the funds towards a HX machine. Not sure if Ill sell the Mokita yet, its old but has had very little use so is in near perfect condition.

At this stage leaning toward the Isomac Tea. Combined with the K3 that combo should keep me happy for some time.

I know Ill be losing money but I dont mind, I consider it going toward my coffee education.

These are an excellent unit Luke,

Quality of manufacture is where it counts and they produce very accurate and consistent output. I reckon youll get over the size difference once you acquire a more substantial espresso machine. Will definitely last the distance, and then some... 8-)
