    Nuova Simonelli Grinta Grinder

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Not that I plan to buy one but it seems to be reasonably priced, from what I could see & find I dont think its step-less but it does say
micrometric grinding on the Nuova Simonelli site and 50mm flat burs.

I see a lot of plastic on the outside and its obviously at the bottom of their range but to my question does anybody know whats on the inside, plastic or metal carriers and parts?

Was just browsing and saw it on

It is a nicely made grinder for the price. The burrs are around 50mm and look to be fairly well made, but not as heavy duty as the Mazzer Mini burrs I transplanted into my KA Pro Line grinder. The burr carrier and main parts are metal, basically just a plastic housing. The motor appears to be rather beefy and offers alot of torque, actually twisting the grinder when the switch is activated. I dont think the grinder has an RPM reducing gearbox either, feels like a good solid motor/burr connection, direct drive if you will.

The switch activated grinding and timer function is quite nice.

My only complaints would be the size/shape of the grounds catch tray. Way too cheap and plasticky and also the way beans hang on the lip of the upper burr. A flat spot is created and tends to hold beans as they enter into the burrs.

Other than these few minor issues it is a good all-around grinder that is very capable. Mine is used as a decaf espresso grinder in our mobile espresso van and might see 4-5 doubles daily at most. Later!

Its a lovely grinder for the type of use it is designed for, which would be "high end home" use or as noted above, as a "secondary" or "decaff" grinder.

This is an unbiased comment, as I dont sell them.

Comparing one of these with a Mazzer Mini or similar is unfair though..... Equivalent echelon would be around where the Rocky sits..... ;)

    Re: Nuova Simonelli Grinta Grinder

I recently picked up a 2nd hand Grinta and thought Id bump this thread as there doesnt seem to be a lot of info out there on this model.

The grinder needs new burrs so I wont be able to give a lot of information about its performance just yet. Once new burrs are sourced I plan to do a comparison with a Rocky.

I noticed the Grinta burrs are the same size as the Rockys so thought I may be able to use a pair of these. However after a bit of tinkering I quickly discovered these 2 grinders spin in opposite directions! The burrs look identical and weigh the same, only difference is their orientation.

Am now trying to source some burrs for the Grinta. If anyone has a lead please let me know! Coffee Parts are unable to help and now waiting to hear back from a couple of retailers of the Grinta.

The Grinta has aluminium burr cariers compared to the Rockys brass, which naturally are much heavier.

Hi CJ, Did you ever get new burrs for this grinder - how did it compare to the Rocky?
