    Spares for Gaggia MDF grinder

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Hi all,

The doser lever has snapped off on my Gaggia MDF grinder, which has made the unit useless. :-( To replace the entire grinder will cost $400+.

Does anyone know where spare parts can be sourced here in Australia or who services Gaggia equipment? Preferrably in Perth.
Googling hasnt lead to any solid leads.

Any ideas who to call will be most appreciated.

    Cheers,
    Alan

    Hi Alan,

I know that site sponsor CosmoreX did sell the grinders. I am unsure if they still do but they should be able to supply the bit or point you in the right direction.

    Good luck ;)

as far as I know the importer used to be in North Ryde (Sydney) but was moving to St Peters (Sydney).
Both of those are a bit far from Perth.

I know what you mean about it being hard to find info online.

Try Cosmorex first and if they cant help you send me a PM and Ill try dig up more detailed info for you.

It happen to me once as well. *I tried to clean out any coffee stuff from the dose and it just happened.

So I opened the dose and removed the handle - it needs a bit of twisting and lifting after unscrewing few. *

You will notice a thinner plastic part may have snapped - it may be a little different from what happened to mine.

I made a nail hot after removing nail head and just screwed/hammered into the handle all the way through and into the base of the doser. *( care with temp and take your own risk ) *Of course I had to maintain the same angle of the original. *Then I glued with platic glue.

That was 5 y ago and it is still working fine. Probably better than before. *I could clean out any residual coffee from the doser without any problem with stron dosing with back flips. I gave it to my friend since I upgraded to others few years ago. *::) *I know it is still working fine. *;D

But of course it is easier and better to replace with spare parts.

Let me know if you want to try it. *But it was not that easy to remove the level and put it back into the dosser.

Agreed its tricky but dont rush and make sure you look carefully where everything goes as you take it apart.
Getting the spring back on is the tricky bit.

yes. I spent some time just to put the spring back. I remember. But that was FUN. ;D

I guess all of us ( CSer ) have some similar personalities in that area.

Hi all, Im in the same boat with my Gaggia MDF grinder. The lever broke, I dont think the spring is still there, the doser plate freely rotates - I can manually rotate to get the ground coffee out, but its a pain :-X. Im in Sydney and would like to see if I can get it fixed, what spare parts would I need for it. Is it fixable?

    Kind Regards

    Its fixable.
Youll need a lever and possibly a spring.
What else depends on whether you find anything else broken in the dosing parts (I doubt it).

    Where in Sydney are you?
