Not if one uses a hair drier to push the water out and dry

I usually wash mine out after a coffee drinking session.
This gives it enough time to drip dry on the dish rack.

If Im in a hurry, a long chopstick and a small dish cloth work too.

*Be sure to remove the hopper gate to avoid accidental breakage.
(No I havent broken one this way.)

I use a cleaning brush that is designed for baby bottles.
Gets into all the hard to access areas.
I do mine as part of the weekly clean. Chemical backflush of machine, washing of knockbox and grinder parts and cleanup.
