    Best grinder under $200

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Hi,
Please help. My Gaggia MM has just died. My husband is pulling it apart in an attempt to fix it as I type this. Have a feeling he will not succeed, he is using my babys bottle brush as one of his tools. EEK!
We have a Gaggia Baby machine and a 10 month old baby who keeps us up all night so we NEED our coffee in the morning, first thing!!
Due to baby, I am not working and cant afford a top of the range grinder. Should probably try to save money and drink instant coffee... please dont let me do this.

    Any recommendations?
    Thank you in advance

    EM0450 or EM0480
The 480 has a metal outer shell and an auto grind button but the same internals, so they should grind the same.
The 480 probably looks better too.

Personally buy the Kyocera, then save some more "pocket money". Gives you a great little noise free grinder to take away with you with a Plunger and works great for espresso as well.

Having one now with mine while the big electric one sits there idle :)

shawty meant EM450 and EM480. 480 has a metal shell as he mentioned. both will do an equally adequate job for the money.

a second hand rocky would be a better option if youre lucky enough to snag one for around $200.

a few min work on the kyocera should get you enough for a double basket too... and the grind will be better than the sunbeam.

I found that the Sunbeam EM480 Blades were blunt after about a year.

I bought it new for $165 (they will go that low with bargaining)

When I enquired about new blades it was going to cost $90ish plus postage.

It is now relegated to de-caf but It wont grind quite fine enough. Still easier than emptying hopper to add de-caf beans.

Blades in an EM0480 ? I would be returning it for a true EM0480 with burrs ;)

Have had the one at work for over 18months and about 1kg a week.. Burrs are fine.. Not perfect but nothing to be worried about.. I think another 18months at least..

If ya down on ya low settings... It will just be a clean and a washer... Unless it has had lots of Decaf and or some crap through it.. Saw one up here that had rice put through it every two weeks for cleaning.. Boy what a mess.

PS. Burrs should be cheaper than $90; if from the right places..

    Sorry - I meant Burrs.

Can you direct me to instructions on adding a washer to improve grinding. I am on finest setting but it is still not fine enough. The "BURRS" look sharp on closer inspection. I had just assumed they were blunt due to the fact that it was not grinding fine enough.

Please use teh Search function (advanced settings) or just scroll through the topics under grinders.. Look for key words such as EM0480 not grinding fine enough.

How to use the search feature is also a sticky... http://coffeesnobs.com.au/YaBB.pl?num=1257241858

I only just posted a link to the methods that has instructions and pics last week or was it this week :-?

If I sound (txt sounds) a bit in ya face... It does get to be a drain when so many ask teh same question day in and day out..
