Mahlkonig vintage / antique info wanted.

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Hi all,

I have been presented with the opportunity to purchase an older Mahlkonig grinder, model EK2AF, single phase, 1/4 hp.

I dont know the condition of the burrs, but if I buy it I will be checking them and doing a test grind.

Just wondering what you all think it is worth and whether it is worth restoring. * *

    Found a pic or two*;)

    Some thoughts.

Not being facetious, but it is "worth" whatever someone is prepared to pay. Same for whether it is worth restoring, its entirely up to you.

One thing to note, it seems from the photos to be in good order. This is only one opinion, but I find the greatest beauty in antiques & collectables when they are in good / serviceable original condition and therefore in that case would never restore, just clean.

Might not be anything Mahlkonig.....is that a stcker that could have been applied any time?

In any case, if "old" type electric coffee grinders are your thing, by all means buy it but note, it may not be any good to use other than for infusion or filter brewing. ie dont buy because you want to use it for anything, buy it because you just like it and want to collect it :)

Hi beanflying. * *Thats a nice looking grinder, but as far as I knew, the Original Favourite decal, was a Mahlkonig trade mark and I agree that the grinder shown, isnt a Mahlkonig. * *Please correct me if Im wrong (which is so often the case! *:( ).

Hi Attilio. * *Yes, quite right and considering its not totally original, Ill make an offer and wont be too upset if they dont accept it. * Thanks for your opinion.

Found a pic of an earlier model on the Mahlkonig web site........

Glad you have verified it as what it is!

If I had found it, I would probably make an offer on it too and not bothered whether it is Mahlkonig or whatever.....:)....found an old hearth mounted coffee roaster last week and bought it!

Have quite a few old coffee trinkets here.

    Good luck with your offer.

Hi Attilio, Id really like to see a pic or two of the roaster.

Maybe we should start a vintage / antique equipment section. :)
