    Compak K3T 2010 spec...

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Gday all,

I had a chat to the importer today and have received the following info on newly arrived K3T grinders:

    • Now grind on demand- holding the tongue in with the group handle operates the grinder until the handle is removed- so its one-handed operation. The timer function is unchanged...
    • All Aussie stock is now the shorter gourmet hopper version
    • No price increase *8-). RRP still $600 for the silver (platinum) edition and with polished Aluminium available at extra cost (circa $150 I think)

For little more than $50 over the price of a Rocky, I see it as a no brainer for those looking for a serious grinder, but at a fair price...

I honestly dont know why youd buy a Rocky now unless you need a narrow grinder? *:-?

Interesting, thanks for the info Chris. Glad to hear the short hopper is the standard, makes more sense for a doserless.

Im in the market for a grinder and had been looking at the Rocky... What are the benefits of the K3T compared to the Rocky?

    Cheers

Grind on demand is a great improvement. As a previous owner, I cant recommend the K3T highly enough. FORGET ABOUT THE ROCKY!!!

The K3s are generally acknowledged to be in a class above the Rocky - with grinders I think output quality is closely related to size and the K3 has bigger burrs, bigger motor and lots of solid metal around the burr carrier to ensure precise alignment. *A significant difference in output quality for a small price differential if you have the space.

I bought my k3t from a Talk coffee rep, after this post and its not the 2010 model :( grind on demand would have been wicked...

and rewiring will obviously void any warranty...

    Hello Benny,

Youre dark and I am perplexed.

We were offered a bulk buy of K3T which we sold at around this time. The bonus for CSers was that they received a discount and a complimentary upgrade to polished aluminium and short hopper as well (well over $200 in discounts). All sold and we requested more from the importer but they were sold out as well.

We were then informed of revisions to spec, ordered more regular K3T grinders and waited a few weeks for stock. At the time I made the original post, we were waiting for stock and Dennis had one remaining in stock which was commandeered as his decaf grinder.

Our new stock of K3T grinders came at a $40 price premium on RRP and there was also a price increase to CS members on new stock.

If you wish to convert the switching on your grinder, any competent machine tech can do it. Do it yourself and we will void the warranty as you have indicated.

If you felt that you had a gripe, it would have been nice if you had left the computer and made the effort to pick up the phone. *:-?

I apologise for the d0uchey tone..

I didnt really see the potential rudeness.. Just was a tad irked by the 2010 model offering everything i wanted, colour hopper and grind on demand...

Didnt get away from the puter coz i was at work, and I didnt wanna hassle the distributor regarding it..

Just odd buying a product in may / june and hearing its not 2010 spec?..

It was badged as a wega, not a compak duno if that made a diff and it was black black or black...

Needless to say i use the switch to grind on demand, and its a damn fine grinder..

Well then you are mistaken Benny.

Firstly, the Compak importer is not the Wega importer.

Secondly, we have not stocked, sourced nor sold a single Wega branded grinder in well over 12 months. The last one we sold was was the Wega mini-instant 54 when there was zero Compak stock after the demise of Diamond services and we managed to source a few from another CS sponsor.

I have no idea who you purchased your grinder from, but our only agent is Cuppacoffee and Den has not stocked nor sold any Wega grinders either.

Best go check your paperwork I think. We await the real story as well as the retraction. ::)

Benny has written to me and informed that he purchased his grinder from a totally different supplier....

Just goes to show thst its best to get your facts straight before you make this type of comment in a public forum. ::)

    As stated,

I unreservedly apologise for dragging Talk Coffee into something totally unrelated to them.

Stupidity gets the best of us at times..

I guess the count to ten rule should apply before hitting post.

In any case, wega/compak whatever they are great grinders and the 2010 model addresses every minor gripe i had regarding the grinder, and unless you need a doser, is really a spectacular grinder for the money :)

I think the quality of production is closely related to the size and the K3 has more fins, larger engines and a lot of solid metal burrs around the company to ensure accurate alignment.
