Some grinder advice for a newbie..... :)

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Hey everyone,

This is my first post and already im in need of advice :-?

Ive researched machines for ages now, and decided on the Rancilio Silvia. Its a 30th birthday present for my wife and I hope shell love it.

Now the advice I required is in relation to a grinder. I was looking at the Rocky doserless however its more then I can afford at the moment (having just bought the Silvia today). A friend told me to look at the Sunbeam EM0480. Its half the price of the Rocky BUT is it half the quality? Will be grind fine enough for the Silvia? Any advice and/or user experience would be greatly appreciated and many thanks in advance :)

    Welcome to CS.

    Read the plentiful reviews.

That type of equipment necessitates sooner or later that you replace it, which means spending money twice, which means it wasnt as good a "value for money" as it originally seemed to be......

Spend money once & buy something that is fit for purpose, works straight up out of the box and will keep on doing so for years without modification.

Suggest Iberital Challenge, around $100.00 cheaper than Rocky...actually, the price bracket is somewhere between the sunbean and the rocky. Its the best "starter" grinder (as in "quality")around.
