    Not sure about the grinder

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Is this normal? I am not sure if the grinder on my new Lelit Combi is working properly. When I twist the knob the hopper does not turn so I am never sure how much of an adjustment is happening. Have others noticed this problem? Does it matter? It seems like I have twisted the grind knob 10 turns yet no discernible change in the grind but I dont really know how much of an adjustment has been made as there is no change on the grinding degree scale because the hopper never turns. Any comments would be appreciated.

Re: Not sure about the grinder

Mishky, in my experience the hopper turns. *Perhaps yours is simply a little loose and needs to be pressed down into place (gently).

If you were running the grinder with coffee, while making those 10 turns, you would have gone through quite a lot of coffee. *

If you adjusted the grinder while it was stationary, then it is very likely to have jammed coffee between the burrs - a bad and very annoying thing to happen, as the usual remedy is to dismantle the burrs so that they can be cleaned.

PS: Sometimes, or perhaps I should say, a lot of times, there is no need to make anything more than a tiny adjustment with any grinder. Up or down dosing can produce nicer results than adjusting grind settings. ;)

I had no idea I was supposed to adjust it whilst running the grinder and so yes I have been adjusting the knob whilst it was stationary. (The instruction book said nothing about this) Does this mean the grinder wont work unless it has been dismantled and the burrs cleaned???

Unfortunately, very few instruction manuals are worth the paper theyre written on.

I think youll find that the best way to clear the grinds is indeed to disassemble the burrs.

    Hi All,

Actually almost the same problem: Lelit Combo(PL042LEN), the hopper DOES turn but when I compare coffee grinded at 7 (corsets) and 1 (finest) settings, it looks the same (at least for me)
    ....is it normal?
In other words, is it really difficult to distinguish coffee grinded at 7 and 1 for this particular type of grinder?

ps. Yes ... Ive adjusted the knob while stationary.
