Pretty good but he talks about "crushing" the beans and theres no mention of "cutting" them to size.
The burrs need to have some sharpness otherwise thered be no size consistency.

Do you feel that ceramic burrs dont make consistent particle sizes?
To my mind, a consistent and precise distance between the burrs would be important in shearing a consistent particle size - sharp burrs that went blunt would of course not fit this description.

    No.

    Exactly.
Some hand held ceramic burred grinders have in question their ability to keep this distance set.

I dont deny that hand grinders have this problem (I have posted about it previously), but what about a decent electric grinder with ceramic burrs?
    Perhaps a vario?

The author here says that the laser analysis isnt particularly good, but even given that limitation the vario seems to shape up ok vs other grinders here:

I have no experience with a Vario so cant comment.
However in general I see nothing wrong in principle with ceramic burrs in a grinder with all other parts being equal.

The reason why I ask is that ceramic burrs arent sharp, they are relatively dull when new as they are moulded.

Re: The Burr Coffee Grinder, How does it works

They may not be as sharp as a metal burr but its hard to tell.

The cutting edge on my ceramic hand grinder burrs are too small to drag across the surface of a fingernail but they are sharp enough to do some damage to the end of the nail.

The thing about the ceramic burrs is that the edge wont blunt like metal ones.

I think thats a fair call.
They dont visibly have a very acute angle, though, as far as I can tell on my hand grinder or on webz photos for the vario.
