Ascaso i-Mini grinder - trouble after cleaning - need help

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Hi guys,

i was wondering if you could help me out. i cleaned out my ascaso i-mini thoroughly, took out the burr and cleaned it out. it wasnt that dirty. put everything back on and now it just wont grind out any beans.

i can see the burr is turning and the beans rumbling but it aint goin down and just a few crushed beans and no ground beans coming down the chute.

i cleaned and put it back on a few times and still no luck. i checked the burr is still looking pretty well and i cant seem to pin point what im doing wrong here. i cleaned out my compak k3t and had a similar problem, found out i forgot to put push down the safety switch. im not sure if the i-mini has any?

any ideas? any help would be much appreciated.

    cheers

    Hi Albert,
I just stumbled onto your post and having the same grinder, thought about your "problem" and the only thing that comes to mind is to check the adjustment worm drive to see if it is engaged.
I have cleaned mine twice in the short time I have had it and the only hassle I had was re-establishing the required grind setting again.
I am about to pull mine down again today and I will look for any issues that may help you.
Its been 3 weeks or more since your post, so have you come to any conclusion as yet?

The only thing I can arrive at Albert is that you may have not screwed the removable burr back down far enough before refitting the worm drive adjustment assembly to actually grind the beans.

If you continually turn the grind gear adjustment knob to finer when grinding your beans (it will take a while if your adjustment is way out) then before long you should begin to see more grinds appearing.
Its one of the downsides of the Ascaso mini that if you change your settings say to a plunger from espresso, then it will take a lot of beans to return to that original setting *:( Basically its a one set only grinder with very fine adjustments for bean type/style. *:-?

Hope this has helped if you havent already solved the issue.

    Cheers.
