Is Fiorenzato F71K as good as Mazzer Robur

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Hi guys,

We were advised by our technician that our Mazzer Robur grinders gear box is broken and they couldnt get parts for it.

The technician advice us to purchase a Fiorenzato F71K for $1800+GST but I could not find any information about this grinder or reviews on the web except the manufacturers website. fiorenzato.it/gb/f71k_gb.html

Im wondering if anyone would have any experience on the grinder or I better of just stick to Mazzer Robur?

    Hello and welcome.

You havent told us whether you are a business or home use user.

If a business, your coffee supplier should have already been able to help you with something of an equivalent or quite usable nature in the meantime. How many kilos do you do per day....in how many hours?

Have you tried calling the importer direct about the parts? Failing that have you called someone like coffee parts/.

And lastly if your grinder really is not worth repairing through spare parts availability or whatever (and I find that hard to believe) there are other more commonly available grinders than the brand mentioned that should be instantly available. And the model type will depend on your kilos turnover as I mentioned above.

If you are a home use operator......why spend dollars for anything over and above a good mini commercial grinder such as M4, MM or K3, and anything over and above that is subject only to what you want (rather than what you need).

    Hope that helps.

I second the advice above, if this grinder was in commercial use a suitable interim replacement should be able to be sorted out quickly to get you up to speed again.

I am a technician, and have replaced gearbox parts in a robur. The parts are available, but they are expensive and generally several weeks away, and the time required to completely tear down the grinder, fit the new parts and put it all back together make it prohibitive in terms of labour costs.

Just out of interest, what happened? It takes alot to damage a robur, I have seen this sort of damage as a result of bolts going through the burrs, but never from normal use.

    Hi Fresh_Coffee,

Sorry I forgot to mention its for business use. We use about 3~4Kg in the busiest hour between 8am and 9am and we use about 8~10 kg a day depends on what day it is, total about 45kg a week. At the moment, we are using our technicians spare Mazzer Robur, Mazzer Robur is the recommended grinder by our coffee roaster.

Ive just taken the grinder to another technician this afternoon for a second opinion. Hopefully well get some good news.

Hi Rick_bond, just like you said, one of our barista dropped a piece metal ring from the air tight glass jar one morning, it stuck up the burr and the adjustment neck. Weve the burr replaced and things were going ok for the next 2 days. On the 3rd day, the grinder suddenly stopped grinding again and the adjustment neck was also stuck somehow. So the technician took our grinder away again and now its the gear box problem.

Im not going to disclose the name of the 2 technicians, but here is how it went.

Technician A had the grinder for 2 weeks and came back to us saying the gearbox needs to be replaced on my Mazzer Robur and he couldnt get the parts, so well need a new grinder.

Technician B took the Robur, open the stuck adjustment neck and found the grinder is just fine. The adjustment neck was brutally opened up last time by technician A when it got a metal ping stuck in the burr, now it is the adjustment neck actually jammed up the grinder. We only need to replaced the neck to fix it.
