    Re: Gaggia MDF

I have heard somewhere (here maybe, or coffeegeek) that Gaggia werent selling them very successfully thru retail outlets so they pushed them to the auction houses who use eBay. Not that Ive been looking, but I cant remember seeing one on ebay for a while either, so they may be a bit scarce.

You can get them at Goodguys Warwick Farm. List price is $199 but cash price is $175. needless to say i bought one right there and then. there were 2 left after i bought mine.

moy71, thats a great pickup. I bought one a few months ago from auctionbrokersaustralia via ebay - paid just a little over $200 which I thought was pretty good. As poundy said, I believe Shriro (.au distributors of Gaggia) were off-loading their entire stock of MDFs to auctionbrokersaustralia (and others) as they will no longer sell them due to lack of interest. Having said that, auctionbrokersaustralia were selling two or three units a week for a while - so maybe it was the RRP that people werent interested in.

    Cheers

I saw them on the Gaggia stand at this years Celebrate The Bean and I was told that the MDF is still a stocked item. I guess they were just unloading a whole heap of excess inventory last year.

Greg, I am not aware of the "Celebrate the Bean". Is it an annual event? whereabouts is it? can you describe the event itself?

    cheers!

The easiest way to describe it would be to surmise that the annual "Celebrate the Bean Festival" is the Melbourne "equivalent" of Sydneys "Aroma Festival".

i wish there is a website that details these events in advance regardless if they are being held locally or interstate. Is there such a site?

Did anyone else notice that at Celebrate the Bean this year, the Gaggia stand had Rancilio Rocky grinders rebadged with the Gaggia brand?

Are you sure about that? I poked about their stand and didnt see them. Were they on the Square, up or down river side of the stand?

    Re: Gaggia MDF

Huh? In the top pic, there is a MM centerstage and a MDF at the edge on the left and in the 2nd pic, the MDF is next to the big Gaggia sign with a Coffee next to it and another MDF can be seen poking past a Classic in the left part. The 3rd pic shows the MDF next to the Coffee. There are MDFs in pics 4, 5 and 6 next to Classics.

    Ahhhhh,

Then it comes down to :
"Tim wouldnt know the difference between a Rocky and a Dunlop thong!" :-)

Sorry Greg, I didnt even realise that there were 2 different Gaggia domestic models.
Also, I should have looked a bit closer.... and I would have seen the all-too-obvious differences.

I think I was hallucinating from too much Guatemalian......

    Re: Gaggia MDF

You were probably strung out by the overextracted shots that most of the stalls were pulling.

The Rocky is much more solid than the MDF (very plasticky body) if you pick them up.
