I dont know if itll be quite $4k, but you can bet that it wont be cheap. But if it does end up being expensive we can always take a regular robur instead ;P Mind you, Chris is on the ball - check it out.

If they do a three phase version of it, with the computer fan in the back it looks like it might actually allow you to do grind on demand in a busy espresso bar, which would be great. But, as always, I think its a case of waiting and seeing.

I find it strange that they didnt put the pf holder fork on it, like they did on the mini E. OK, its fast, but that pf holder fork is very convenient.

    Cheers,

    Luca

    Yes,

Pretty impressive grinder if the $$$ are there to get one. Its available from ourselves or new CS sponsor Genovese.

Present pricing is just over $3.2k but Id expect that it will follow everything else up in due course....

So... *that is the fork, not the holding folk (which allows you take your hands off the pf.)
*Note the holding fork on the mini e below

Maybee they think it is so fast that it is not worth taking your hands off the handle to wipe your brow?

If you see this, http://video.aol.com/video-detail/mazzer-robur-electronic/3505363092 ,
you realize, that the time to grind, is below 4sec.So, either there is a fork, or not, it is not a problem.

Re: New Release: Mazzer Robur Electronic

At the risk of sounding like an expert when Im not ::), Id take that review with a bit of a pinch of salt, especially when it comes to an Aussie market. The main reasons that spring to mind are:

    1) Home roasted blend of unknown quality, even inter-shot.
    2) Unknown quality of supplied power @ a different voltage.
    3) In my experience, dosing a gram weight of beans is open to as error as by eye/tool/barista. The simple fact is that beans vary in hardness (thus weight), can popcorn if they dont have beans on top of them etc, and at the level theyre trying to interrogate the grinders at, and with 5 different beans in the roast, weight to surface area may vary a lot per-shot.
    4) Some grinder/bean/machine combos work better than others. eg. My Macap M4 is a superior grinder to the [Insert Current Supplier Here] KS, however the burrset of the KS seems to be a good partner to some beans, whichever machine I use, and other beans sparkle through one of the machines in specific. I think this comes down to extraction profile, which is one reason Id love a LM GB5 or similar!

If anyone wants to know how good this is, ask fringe_dweller. He bought one a few weeks ago.

Re: New Release: Mazzer Robur Electronic

Our Robur-e arrived this morning and all I can say is WOW! *:o

We had the pleasure of visitors: AndyL, Con H of 7 grams (thanks for dialling in Con while I was up to my elbows in a machine *[smiley=thumbsup.gif]) and Nathan of Somage...Shots everywhere

The Robur-e is clean, quiet, and quick. I can see what all the hype is about and everything else I have used so far pales in comparison.

    Its worth every cent!

Shots are gorgeous...but then they always are on the Faema *8-)

and does the Kony come in electronic ??

But but but......how can you live without a doser.....

Its almost therapeutic thwacking the doser over and over....

I think I have seen the Kony in an electronic model

    Hi KK,

There is a Kony-e. The difference is that with a kony, you put the kettle on, then go for a walk around the block etc...

The kony is more like mazzer mini speed.

    Kony-e is 650mm tall:
    Power: 350 Watt
    Burr diameter: 63 mm
    Burr speed: 420 r.p.m. (@50Hz)
    Hopper capacity: 1.3 kg
    Net weight: 20 kg
    RRP: $2530

    Robur-e is 720mm tall:
    Power: 900 Watt
    Burr diameter: 71 mm
    Burr speed : 420 r.p.m. (@50Hz)
    Coffee-bean container capacity: 1.8 kg
    Net weight: 28 kg
    RRP: $3605 :o

How much difference in the cup do you think the Robur really makes compared with say a Mini or say a Kony?

But if you added salt to any equivalent work on the subject all youd have is salt.

To a Kony, nada I suspect- but I do think slow grind speed makes a difference over the mini.

Re: New Release: Mazzer Robur Electronic

    I found some good comparisons:

No clumping and they dose nicely into the centre of the basket...The Roburs better than 2x Kony speed...

Also looks like better initial distribution of grinds in the PF.

Has anyone that has used a Mazzer E vs a Doser found that the distribution improvement on the E produces a better pour? *(and therefore part of the improvement is in the E over Doser)

I think the dosing on the Mini contributes to poorer (or pourer :)) distribution and therefore a worse pour.

I use both at work. There is no real distribution improvement as such. Its more on how good you are are using the doser to distribute and how you distribute afterwards, stockfleths or strike off, or dosing tools or none etc. There are heaps other things than the distribution quality outta the end that is gonna affect the pour.
In fact, I prefer the control of the dosered WAY more than the E. In both, like I said before (I think) that you can pretty much fill the basket, collapse and tamp and get a good pour.

Both Robur dosered and Robur-e = awesome in the right hands.
