Yup, had the same issue with my compak, once Id cleaned out the crud in the threads, there was a bit of play between the burrs.
The compak has a locking screw to "clamp" the two together, but I prefer the teflon tape as it gives a really nice smooth repeatable action.
Theres been a few threads recently re smaller hoppers, some had suggested using a SS canning/preserving funnell and others had modified a SS mug.
If you are generally making only a couple of shots a session, you may also consider just putting the beans straight into the throat of the hopper, you can mark the right level with tape/liquidpaper/whatever.
Some then use an upside down tamper [a crappy stainless steel one...oh well] as a cover to the throat.
P.S. CSer will always take beans if there is no monetary gain on offer!
