Here is what a few of us have had for some time... Same job, but maybe not as clean looking.
Last week I emailed Sunbeam with some feedback about my 0480 which Ive had for about a month.
I mentioned the apparent static electricity build up that seems to be part of the cause for grounds clumping in the spout.
I also mentioned how I believe the spout needs to be at a steeper angle so the grounds dont overshoot the PF and make more of a mess than is necessary.
A nice lady by the name of Poppy replied to my email the following day and informed me that Sunbeam would send me a spout extension that would help direct the ground directly into the PF.
It arrived in the post today and Im happy to say it works a treat!

I reckon someone from Sunbeam has copied your idea ;) ;D
Any chance of reducing those images down to a max. of 640 x 480 pixels (W x H) mate. Images bigger than this can be be a little difficult to view properly in some monitors.... :)
Why do I have the feeling Sunbeam are about to get a lot of sudden complaints of overshooting grinds ;). Good pick up gronk62
why am I suddenly recalling Gonzo of the muppets?

Yes I can reduce them. Its just that all other websites I post on use 800 X 600 so thats the standard size I have my Photobucket account set to resize images. :)
Ok its done
thanks for that, I just sent my request in, :) just have to wait and see what happens.
Whoa! that was quick, I just got a response from Sunbeam, they are sending me one :)
thanks to Poppy at sunbeam!!
thanks for the info gronk. I have called sunbeam and a very helpful man has now sent me out one also. He said that they were a promo item being given away(???) at cafe biz to see if they should put them on updated models. He said there were a couple of piles of them around also.
Great outcome! Glad yas are all gettin looked after. :)
Thanks mate [smiley=thumbsup.gif]Originally Posted by gronk62 link=1217234963/0#6 date=1217301164
Probably has to do with the type of board and the layout used I guess.... Anyway g62, all the best mate and thanks again for your help,
I ordered one of these as well thanks for the tip!
Just a quick question off topic how often do people clean their grinders? I cant believe how much grinds are left in the collar and chute! With everyone being so anal about cleanliness how can you justify not pulling apart this thing after each grind and cleaning it spotless?
I was told that pulling a single shot is enough to flush out the stale beans but I struggle to think this is standard practice amongst all coffee snobs surely!!
Im no coffee "snob" and my first cup in the morning only need to give me a serious caffiene hit. Not overly concerned about freshness and flavour as long as it give me a kick start for the day.Originally Posted by dannyhc link=1217234963/0#12 date=1217333773
This first cup flushes out any (most) leftover grounds from the previous day so the next cup tastes a lot better. :)
Thats one of the reasons I dont use my Sunbeam grinder any more.Originally Posted by dannyhc link=1217234963/0#12 date=1217333773
oh my god im so getting this..
I called this afternoon and the lady said I need to fax them my receipt to verify my purchase before they can send me a spout.
I called at 12:20 gave my name ( previously registered on the Sunbeam site, when I purchased) and serial number. Mentioned the spout and was advised one would be coming my way, ASAP.Originally Posted by TripleShot link=1217234963/0#16 date=1217416096
I got an email back from Sunbeam NZ, the CS rep sent it to someone else with a "do you know what this is" question. Guess the gonzo spout hasnt found its way across the ditch yet
Thanks gronk62 & Sunbeam! *Mine arrived in the post this morning... shame Ill have to make a coffee to test it out ;)
;D I bet Im a bit unpopular at Sunbeam for bringing this to everyones attention. Looks like they gunna be a bit busy posting em out :D
With a bit of luck this may prompt them to either package one with every new machine or maybe redesign the spout for future model upgrades :)
Poppys sending me one out too !! Just had to email nicely. Thanks gronk62

Poppys turned out to be a top chick!! [smiley=tekst-toppie.gif]
Sounds like she might be eligible for honorary membership of CS?
Ditto - it looks like a vast improvement on the clear plastic hose they sent me nine months ago. Poppy has sent me one too.
got it!, I thought it was a hard plastic but it is actually a grey silicon material, nice it should do the job :)
Yep mine too... Got it to day.Originally Posted by dAz52 link=1217234963/20#25 date=1217570384

Sorry I forgot to mention it was made from a flexible plastic
Just sent an email via the web site...the waiting begins...
I got mine yesterday. Very quick. Fits like a glove. So far so good. Surprisingly Im finding less grinds getting clogged up in the shute. Dont know how the extension could make a difference in this regard but definitely less coffee stuck in the shute!

Yeah Ive noticed the same thing. I wonder if its altering the build up of static charge somehow
An an email today saying there is one in the mail. Very impressive service ::) and thanks for the tip (get it...?) ;DOriginally Posted by kevviek link=1217234963/20#28 date=1217588841
Got mine on monday. Called previous thursday.
Wonderful customer support. Mine came with a hand written note saying "with compliments". Cant remember the last time ive received anything from a big corporation that was not mass printed.
Got mine too. Matches the grinder nicely and much less mess.
I spoke to Poppy again today via email and directed her to this thread.
She seemed pleased by the positive feedback :)
Thanks sunbeam - great service - got my extension yesterday - much better
I just called using the Sunbeam 1300 number on the website and the lady (not Poppy :( ) was very helpful and said one would be sent out asap, no info provided, no questions asked.
maybe Poppy can talk to her colleagues across the ditch, still havent had any further response from Sunbeam NZ :(
Received mine in the mail yesterday (sent by Poppy last Wed, arrived Tues ... camel train to Perth), and it does reduce the grind scatter quite abit.
A big thanks to Poppy if she is reading.
Got mine too - from Poppy, who has been fanastic. And yes, its much neater.
Thanks for the heads-up on this.
Mine arrived the other day. A special thanks to Poppies colleague who assisted me. Im not convinced its any neater, the mess is just different. I have decided to measure and dose...? into the little container that comes with it.
Cool, this will be much better than the plastic hose I have fitted to mine. Think that actually makes the static worse sometimes. Sent request via website.....waiting...
Email sent to Poppy, who is the most helpful Customer Service person I have ever known :)
I would tend to agree 100% with this :)Originally Posted by ChrisLevo link=1217234963/40#42 date=1219471736
Poppy sent me one, and an extra one for my mate who has taken off the label with the serial number.
The lady sets new standards in Customer Service :)
can anyone who recieved one of these in the last week confirm that it is
the same as pictured in the original photo, I got sent a 1" long clear plastic
piece of tube cut at a 45` angle which is exactly nothing like what I was expecting
and the same as I already made myself.
I emailed a reply asking if they could send the other one and got this reply this morning (anyone have poppys email address?):
You may have seen a silicone one on display at a home show. *This was the test or prototype of what I have sent you. *
Iím sorry but there is no other spout available for the grinder.
I rang up Sunbeam yesterday and got Diana. Today when i got home from work there was a grey rubbery spouty thing waiting for me in the mailbox.
surprisingly enough, I had one of these turn up in the post yesterday from Sunbeam NZ.
I had pretty much thought that they had either forgotten, or been unable to get them, wrong on both counts.
Tried it this morning, definitely not as messy as without and makes grining into the PF handle almost tolerable (in terms of mess).Ive taken the fork thingy off my grinder as I had been using a container, may have to try and see if I kept it so that I can use the auto button thingy
Ive found using the PF holder (fork thingy) with the rubber spout and the auto button is not so good (when you want to pull the PF out, you cant lower it first, so if the grinds are slightly heaped, theyll get scraped off the edge by the rubber spout as youb pull the PF out).
I took the forky thing off, and just hold the PF in place with a steady hand. its not especially heavy, and its not like youre holding it there for long. Then when you pull the PF away you can lower it first, and make less of a mess.
Mines on the way - Ill probably get it before the grinder, but what the hey! ;D
Ive started a thread off under General Coffee to sing Poppys praises (The Sunbeam Poppy Appreciation Society), if anyones interested in going in and adding to it!
