Mazzer Major dosing everywhere, Robur to the left!

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
The grinders at work are having all sorts of issues.

Our primary grinder is a Mazzer Robur and grinds probably 5-7kgs of coffee on a good day.

During busy periods we make use of the dosing chamber which is approximately set to dispense 16-17 grams of coffee over 3 clicks. Recently we found the chamber to be under dosing except nobody knows how to adjust the dosing chamber. Does anyone have a PDF manual they could send to me?

On the flip side, during quiet times we like to grind to order. However, I keep finding that the grounds keep landing to the left leaving a very uneven pile of coffee on one side of the basket which makes grooming messy and problematic. I thought this had something to do with the speed at which I dosed, but neither dosing slow or fast seems to fix the problem.

Our Mazzer Major is a backup grinder I like to use for specialist coffee I buy on the weekend. It grinds exceptionally fast, but when I try to grind to order the grounds come out a lot like a shower and sprinkle all over the group handle. Just like the Robur I seem to be losing a lot of coffee to spillage.

Any help would be extremely appreciated.

I believe that the Robur has the same or similar doser to the Kony. There is a finger nut on top of the vanes, in the center of the dosing chamber. Unscrew it and it increases the dose, Tighten to decrease dose, The little bolt on top keeps the nut from coming off.

To get the grounds to drop more vertically, try Andy Schecters Schectermatic Schnozzola...

This is just the usual *Mazzer Fling. It can be solved by fitting a device dubbed the "elvinator". I know Espresso Parts North West sell them but I believe the plans on how to make one are readily available *(really just a plastic/card cutout that is attached to the doser).

Edit: found it. The template can be found here (pdf) and an installation guide here (flicker)

You can find mods that doesnt require the doser to be taken apart.

I have seen some that makes use of the two screws meant for the black plastic tamper.

Or you could just modify the way you dose it. Its doable. Using the Roburs at work it IS possible to dose dropping the grounds into the centre of the portafilter. Just dose fast enough to thwack the grounds to hit the left side and it almost bounces off into the centre. Just know that it is possible to dose it cleanly with NO wasted grounds with the Mazzers. Its not just me either, all our baristas are able to do it, just takes practice.

And maybe stop fillling up the dosing chamber with grounds and grind on demand :P

Or if you pull the dosing lever slow enough you can actually get some left drop.

to adjust dose, push down on the star (the metal part that separates the dosing chamber in to "chambers") and turn the big knob in the centre CCW to increase dose and CW to decrease (just like a tap).

You could also bend a piece of metal from bunnings + attach via screw-holes to form a deflector for the doser. Might be worth an hour or twos fiddling.
