    New Eureka Mignon [photos]

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Just wanted to share a few photos of the new Eureka Mignon model. Besides a few cosmetic changes, this model now also has a manual option. The small switch on the side will let you choose between manual and automatic. And it now has a 250g hopper, which keeps coffee fresher and saves space :)

Awesome grinder. Just picked mine up from Espresso Italia.

Big thanks to the boys at Espresso Italia.
Popped into the showroom this afternoon after the back up modified breville grinder eventually gave up.
    Really great service :)

I have already been putting it through some tests to see what its capable of. Also popped in to a friends to help convince him to upgrade his Sunbeam 0480. Alot of back to back shots later...job done there ;D

After CS discount it was sub $500. Got a $50 voucher too passed to the mate with the Sunbeam ;D

Do a google on "Eureka Mignon review bella barista " and read the full review...

But does it really matter as to Flat or Conical or what speed / size of burr - *

NO, not unless you have a very specific use *or high work load. *And if so, I would be looking at a different grinder.

Drop in a see a sponsor that is dealing in these if ya interested; as hands on is worth 10,000 words on the net.

I can see that being a winner for the "needs to fit under a cupboard" CSrs.

The latest version has a switch for manual or auto timed grind duration.

That means you can switch it to manual, in which it grinds for as long as you hold the group handle against the grind button, OR, you can switch it to automatic, and it grinds for x seconds after you press the grind button. You can adjust the time of the grind via a +/- knob under the base of the machine (just tip it upside down... but empty the hopper first... ask me how I know this...)

It really is much simpler when you have the Mignon in front of you, I promise.

but heard sum1 said it has a strong problem, lots of static electricity.
Is it true? How to prevent it then?

The static clumping is easy to rectify and its not in any way an issue worth any worry. Like a number of machines the static is not always a problem. Its intermittent on mine.

If you are concerned then its easy to grind into a little container, I use a little stainless metal one for the small portafilter machine, touching it to the spout eliminates the static. You can quickly run a skewer through the grinds to fluff them if you care to. Mostly I dont bother and my shots do not suffer for it.

i wish mine had the manual option..or the timer switch in a place thats easier to get to..turning it upside down is a pain...I set mine to the longest duration,,then i hit the off button when i think ive ground enough for a double basket....im always within a gram or two....

I just bypassed the lever and made mine a straight out manual Via teh switch.. (Older unit).

I tend to play so a time option, always get me; as I will bump for that bit extra and then have to kill or just spill stuff every where :-)

Will like to see a schematic so I can mod my older one to be the same as teh newer units... It has an extra socket and sure that is involved some how ;)

    Re: New Eureka Mignon [photos]

I purchased my Mignon about 3 weeks ago, my present for the new house, and I couldnt be happier.
The service & price were great, too bad about the Perth freight delay.
I bought the combo that has the stainless drawer, what a perfect addition to lift the Silvia.

Regarding the static - I have not yet experienced this issue.
Regarding the clumping - yes this does happen but is easily rectified with a cake skewer mixing the grinds in the process.

Many thanks go to Espresso Italia for the pleasurable experience. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

    Re: New Eureka Mignon [photos]

Ive had my Eureka Mignon for a couple of months now - very happy with the quality and performance so far. Im trying to get used to a new coffee machine this week so the timer has been really handy for consistent dosing. Its easy on the eye too... by far the cutest grinder on the market - it has a great art deco look. The static is not really an issue, but as the grind gets finer there is a bit of clumping - easily fixed with my little pickle fork raking through the basket before tamping. I did a lot of research before choosing the Mignon over the other contenders in its price range - and thanks to Espresso Italia it was a great deal with free freight. :) and thanks to all the enthusiastic CSers who gave me the upgradeitis in the first place!
