    La Cimbali Max

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Hi guys

Just wanted to show off my new project Max :)

I picked him up this arvo so havnt had a good chance to look at it.

His previous owner bought him from the cafe that she used to work in and said that he has been in storage ever since (5 years)!!

The first issue that i have found with Max is that his grind adjustment knob is not working. I pulled his knob off (ouch!) and it looks like it is hollow - so just spins on the actual metal part of the adjuster. His hopper also has a hole in the top right.

Anyway I will crack it open next weekend and take some more pic of Maxs innards!! Im sure he is nicely constipated with caked up oils etc *:(

    Some external pics

So I had a bit of time up my sleeve this evening and was able to take the hopper off.

Some interesting preview pics of Maxs insides.

Very glad I decided to clean it up before giving him a test run!!! :o

    5 years = fresh beans..

That first shot will be one to put aside for prosperity.

    Burrs are out.

Other than being amazingly grotty - they feel fairly sharp, so will clean them up and see how it goes.

    Wow!

What a difference "pusca" [smiley=thumbsup.gif] and youre right, those burrs look to be in pretty good shape. This little beauty should keep you satisfied for a long, long time (coffee quality wise)..... 8-)

    Thanks Mal

Ran 1 kg through last night. First impressions were that Max is fairly noisy!! :o

Second impression was that the grind is very even and fluffy. Luckily I wont be grinding a kg of beans very often, so the WAF (wife acceptance factor) should hopefully stay at an acceptable level!

Next step will be putting a piece of pipe between the top burr carrier and hopper so that beans will not jump out and into the main body.

One of my DRMs has a plastic piece that sits under the hopper and on top of the black plastic top, to guide the beans into the throat of the grinder while the other was missing (still need to have one made).

Do you have a photo of this by any chance bean?

I found a post on another forum that used the finger guard from the hopper. Apparently the diameter is the perfect size and fits straight in with a little cutting....

Hi Bean - wondering if you can help me out here?

I have found over the past weeks that a lot of fines are getting into my coffee so have decided to pay out for some new burrs.

I sent away for some "Cimbali DRM burrs" from one of the coffeesnobs sponsers, but recieved the ones below... :(

Can you let me know where you got burrs for your Cimbali DRMs?
