Mazzer Mini E vs Compak K3Touch

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
I have been trawling over the options for months it seems and am trying to future proof my grinder purchase. The eventual goal is a nice HX machine like an ISOMAC Tea, but I know that this Christmas my present will be a stovetop espresso unit.
I heed the advice of my experienced posters around here to get the grinder first, and get a good one.
Im the only coffee drinker in my house, so I think the doserless option is the way to go to minimise wastage.
Does anyone have any experience between the grinding ability of the Mazzer Mini E vs the Compak K3 Touch. Most reviews I have found are between the Manual Mazzer Mini and the K3 Touch because they both have the 58mm burrs. Do the 64mm burrs on the Mini E make a big enough difference to matter (especially for extra $400+ price difference)?

I have ZERO wastage on my dosered grinder.

Please explain why you think grinders with dosers are wasteful and Ill set you straight.

Well, I have never owned one of either type, but it was an overall impression that I had gathered from reading a lot of posts....(probably too many posts!)

Can you please reassure me that the doser can be used when making only one double shot? I prefer to grind on demand rather than have it sit in the doser and go stale.

Also How do you do it?

Thanks for the info and links 2MCM. I will have a good watch of this By the sound of it the consensus seems to be the Mazzer Manual over the electronic. I love seeing the bigger Mazzers in action in my favourite coffee shops.

Just be aware Brewy that the Mazzer Mini manual is not a fast machine, mine takes about 30 seconds to grind 18 grams, plenty fast enough for me but have heard others complain. :)

    Nope- no faster...

The Macap M4D is about the same price as the mini-e and grinds a double in around 10 seconds

I do 3 times a day every day.

I actually measure my beans using a spare double basket, toss those into the hopper, grind them and everything that goes in, comes out.

No brainer for me then in that case. If I was upgrading from my $400 grinder I would want it at least to beat the current one

Thanks for your input everyone. Thundergod, do you have any issues with grinds remaining in the doser? And how long did it take to perfect the technique? From what I have read, using the doser helps to reduce "clumping".

Re: Mazzer Mini E vs Compak K3Touch

No issues with grinds left in the doser.
In fact since measuring per shot then grinding I struggle to have left over grinds to collect for seasoning shots after cleaning.
(I hate using good beans for that)

I measure, grind, dose, brush the chute clean, dose the rest.

Thanks for making it sound a little less scary.

So the manual is the go - I have noticed there is a new style "short hopper" version of the Mazzer Mini Manual available overseas - any one heard of them being available here yet? Or when?

Have you had a look at this comparison?

I purchased a K3 elite and am very happy. No wastage and no clumping :) It is paired with a Giotto PP all purchased from Talk Coffee

I use the same technique with the Mini TG with the same result.
