    Grinds stuck in the doser...

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Hey all
Does anyone else have the problem where grinds get stuck between the clear plastic and the metal on the doser just under the chute - as per the photo? Does this happen on grinders other than the mazzer?
If so, how have you rectified it?
    Thanks

I got my SJ second hand from a cafe, it looks a lot worse than yours in what was said to be ~1 year of use!

If you can get in there to clean it or remove the plastic I havent figured out how yet and otherwise I have fully stripped my SJ..* :(

    Thanks inso,
Yeah this looked a lot worse when I first got it, but like you did a full strip back and removed the auto fill mechanism. When I pulled it apart first time I took the plastic bit out from the doser and cleaned it all, but as soon as I grind I get a few just making their way through the crack between the plastic and the metal - and after a few shots its ends up looking like the photo!
Did you say you havent figured out how to get the plastic bit out of the doser?

Have you removed the auto fill micro switch (black thing with a metal flap over the grinder chute you can see in my photo). If not, you need to remove that first. Do a search on home-barista as there are a few threads with instructions.
If you have removed it, then after removing the 2 hex-nut screws at the top of the doser it should slide upwards and off!

Yes, already removed and also did the change on the termination block too.

Assuming Ive got the doser 100% separated from the body how would you take the plastic screen out? does it just slide out?

EDIT: Erm.. seems you already answered the question, Ill give it a go probably its just stuck with all the coffee caked onto it!

Cant seem to get my one out at all.. I guess with the vibration of the motor running Im not surprised that yours is getting grounds stuck behind it, seeing that it is loose enough to pull out with little effort after taking the hex nuts off.

I guess you are lucky that you can get it out but unlucky that the grounds get stuck there :)
