Red face HELP - Best Grinder for Rancilio Silvia V3?

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Hello all...

I am new to this site and wanted to say hello...

I bought a new Rancilio Silvia V3 last night and hope i have dont the right thing (after a fair bit of research) I know how to make coffee but i wouldn't say i even close to an expert! BUT love to spend time and learn about the grind etc. BUT now i see on your post that this little machine needs a bit of slapping into submission??
ANY advise is welcome and appreciated on tips you can give me with this machine.

I also have a Krups burr grinder and now realised this is not going to be any good for my new machine.. CRAP!!
I don't want to spend the earth and keep seeing on sites the Rancilio Rocky grinder is being paired with this machine but keep on seeing conflicting remarks,
I didn't want to have to spend over $250 but maybe i have to?

HELP Please what shall this new barista do?
    Cheers
    Claire

for the price i think you would be looking at something like the Breville Smart grinder, sure it more "appliancey" then most people would like but from all reports it will do the job for you new Silvia, then save up for a better grinder down the track like maybe a Mini Mazzer or Compact K3.

The Rocky would pair up very well with your Silvia, I used the combo successfully for many years.
Alternatively the Compak K3P for $450 from Talk Coffee gets excellent reviews.

Spending a little more for a decent grinder rather than an appliance will save you having to upgrade in the near future.
The wisdom of your choice will be obvious in the cup.

Good luck whichever way you go.

The best cup of coffee I ever had came from my rocky + silvia combo. Perhaps for $250 you might be able to find a second hand rocky grinder?
