    Best grinder for espresso *only*

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Hi, all.
I'm looking for an inexpensive coffee grinder that I'll actually be using to grind spices, and so I need something that grinds to powder (very fine form). I have little interest in something that specializes in more coarse/drip brews, per se.

Do you think one of the more highly rated electrical ones (Krups/Tefal) would serve my needs if my only goal is a very fine powder?

    Thank you.

Grinding coffee and grinding spices are two very different things.

If you want something to pulverise spices only, then a mortar and pestle or a small "whirly" grinder (Braun are good) is the go. Don't use it for coffee!

I think that you're looking at two different outcomes here. Whilst espresso grind is fine, it certainly does not require 'fine powder', so an espresso grinder probably wouldn't suit your purpose for 'powder'.
I don't personally know of the two electrical grinders that you mentioned and I don't wish to sound snobby, but I don't believe that they would be 'highly rated' by members of this forum. As Greg has mentioned, you might be better off with a whirly blade type grinder. They'll make powder as fine as you like, as long has you hold the button down long enough.
    All the best,
    Steve.

we use a whirly blade grinder for spices. the bamix has a similar attachment, but the grinder is easier.

If a very fine powder is definitely what you are wanting then I would suggest you look at Turkish Coffee Grinders. Google or the bay of evils can help you with your search.
