Gaggia Baby + Macap MCA - Advise Please!

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Hi All,

Picked up a lovely Macap MXA tonight from Okitoki (thanks!), came home and spent a good few hours dialing it all in as best i know how with my Gaggia Baby Dose (with Silvia v2 wand-mod)
    Wanting to confirm that i am on the right track - after much refinement;

    Dosing ~18g in a double-shot basket (pre-ground weight).
25 Seconds from the Gaggia (manual mode) is giving me ~60ml of Espresso.

How does this sound? I'll refine again for flavor balance in the morning when i'm feeling fresh again - but just wanted to confirm i am headed in the right direction. Input and thoughts appreciated, for a noob 'snob.
This Macap is a massive step upwards from the Delonghi KG100 i was using previously.

Thanks to everyone who's helped me out with suggestions, ideas and help over the past week (and years prior!) - Appreciated!
    Kyle.

    Hi kyle

When you say 30ml do you mean from each spout , so two 30ml shots

With the double basket you want to be aiming for 60ml total.

Thanks Cadan, i think i either need more sleep - or another coffee

You're correct though, i was pouring into 2x 30ml shot glasses. So that would be ~60ml total from the double-basket over 25 seconds.

most important... how did it taste?

add: actually... after dialing it in for the last 2-3 hours based on time you left my house, you should be pretty buzzed by now with all the coffee tasting

I tried not to taste too many until i got the timing down pat! But, it's certainly an improvement off how i was going before
Tomorrow and the next few days will be the true test, as i start to really fine tune.

Approached fresh this morning, grind needs a little more adjusting - wasn't quite getting enough extraction. Certainly on it's way forward though!

Tried a single-shot first, but i have never had luck using a single-shot basket before - does anyone bother? :P

nope... I find that I have a slightly different result when using different baskets...
my current 20g VST basket is spot on with my extraction and taste with a light tamp, but I find that its different with the Synessoo double basket and it pulls faster so I need to do a normal 15kg tamp (based on my Espro)
