I can't get my new EM0480 Sunbeam grinder to work!

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Hi, I am new to the world of coffee grinding and seem to be having more than a "blonde moment" getting my new EM0480 grinder to work.
It all looks pretty simple and straightforward, yet I can't get any ground beans to come out.
I have triple checked the hopper is on securely. It really has only the base and the hopper to put together.
Any ideas on what I am doing so wrong? When I turn it on, it makes noise but nothing happens. How long should it take for the beans to be ground and come out? I am trying to grind them on fine, so around 10.
    So frustrated and confused.....

Try grinding it coarser and see if anything comes out.

Is it possible that there something protecting the burrs that you may have forgotten to remove? The burrs are just below the hopper. I don't actually have a sunbeam grinder but have seen one.

First... check the hopper is properly on. It has to click down and turn clockwise to engage. That opens the sliding 'iris' at the bottom. You can push the iris open by finger - make sure it works. Next, with the grinder OFF, as in DISCONNECT it from the power, take the hopper off and poke your finger up the out-chute. You SHOULD see your finger reach up to the base of the bottom burr.

In case you're having a bit of a moment... you DO have the upper burrs in the grinder base... right?

As Journeyman says, ensure the hopper is installed properly. It can be quite tight when new. You line up the hopper with the lugs on the machine and push down then turn clockise until you feel it turn around 15-20mm and stop. It can be quite tight to turn. The YouTube videos below are a bit long winded but give you an idea how to clean it if you have ground too fine and clogged it.

If the hopper isn't in properly, it shouldn't turn on...

    You've put beans in, right?

it could be that paddle wings are broken underneath the burrs and therefore not pushing coffe out. either way take it back for replacement since it is new.

Mine will work (as in the motor works) when the hopper is pushed down and turns about half way. It doesn't seem to open the iris in the bottom of the hopper though. It takes a definite extra push to make sure it goes all the way to the full extent. The EM0450 I have does the same thing, although the mid-way 'stop' isn't as pronounced.

Oh, and to answer the other question, the grinds start exiting the grinder in a couple of seconds or less after I clean my machine, and it is instant if I forget to 'thump' out the remainder of grind from the previous session. (thump = a whack on top of the grinder to dislodge the leftovers in the chute area)
