Breville BCG800 sufficient for a Silvia?

    Hi,

I have a BCG800 smart grinder and was wondering if I need to upgrade if I get a Silvia?

    Thanks

It'll work fine. I had this setup previous and there are a number of others here with the same. This combo can produce great coffee.

I would be surprised if you need to upgrade. If your BCG800 is not grinding fine enough you can get a shim kit sent to you from breville. My understanding is that there were a few problems in earlier batch numbers not grinding fine enough so breville would mail out shim kits so you can make the grind finer. I believe the batch codes of around the 1102 mark or less had some problems but the newer ones are fine.

The SG I had wasn't fine enough even with the shim kit. End up getting a macap before a super jolly.

    YMMV though...
