    EM440 not grinding fine enough

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Hi,
Santa got me an EM440 for filter duties at the office. Tried it at home for espresso and it does not grind fine enough, even at the finest setting. Is there something wrong with it? or is there an easy way to fix this? Am not too concerned since I am no intending To use it for espresso, unless my Mazzer dies...

    Any suggestions?
    And happy new year

Shims. They are thin (0.1-0.2mm I believe) washers you can probably get from hardware store. In a pinch you could probably make some out of plastic. You unscrew the nut on the lower burr (clockwise) and then you place them on the spindle underneath.

They push the lower burr higher against the upper burr, resulting in a finer grind setting.

You can get the right shims from Ebay, and on here there is a thread which has a link to a Sunbeam PDF on the way to do it on an EM480, same grinder really.

Not that you really need the PDF, but good to have.
