Anyway work on say 400 kilos per set of plates, and divide back by your weekly usage. At home this usually means tens of years use. In a cafe, different story as they may use in one week what you will use in a whole year at home.
Its surprising how much life a set of plates actually have in them when you look at it this way, and puts a different perspective on the scare mongering that sometimes goes on in internet forums about plates being worn out.
