I have a Obel/ Bregent Junior grinder (also appears that it's known as a SAB Junior Coffee grinder). I need to buy the flat metal spring that locks the doser pawl gear as mine has broken can anyone direct me to where I can buy spares for this grinder? I downloaded an exploded drawing of this grinder but it does not show this flat spring steel part (don't know what it's called). I've attached a picture of the underside showing this part.
It's the flat metal spring steel anchored at the left, as you can see the tip has broken off.
Also I also just discovered that the dose level can be adjusted by an adjustment knob at the top. When I bought this I just plugged in & started using without knowing this. Can someone shed some light on how adjusting this knob adjusts the dose level?
Thanks, I could buy this from the UK but postage increases the cost hugely. I'll contact coffee machinist
By the way I finally found a description for this; it's a Junior Coffee Grinder Doser Leaf Spring Obel from one site & in Italian (the manufacturer) it's called Molla lamina (think this translates to spring plate)
Turning the knob moves the upper part of the dose measurement area up or down which increases or decreases the amount of ground coffee allowed into each segment. See the 2-3 minute period in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNepHaKDvoY Some grinders have the screw in the center of the knob while others don't.
Java "Screw what?" phile
Toys! I must have new toys!!!
Hello there,I've dealt with broken flat leaf springs in other similar mechanisms before,I would remove your leaf spring and carefully straighten the bend and then rebend at a point no greater then the length of the missing section.
Reinstall the leaf Spring into it's position, you should then find the previously too short Spring effectively catches onto the pawl, preventing it's tensioned return.
Leaf springs similar to this may and sometimes do break where the straightened bend was,be aware this might occur, otherwise all should be good to go again.
Hope it works ,if all else fails.....wait for the replacement to arrive.
from what I've read, this grinder gets rebadged alot. Unless I'm misstaken its the same as one I picked up recently (bezzera BB95).
That seems to be how its sold in Aus(?).
Jetblackespresso & dibartoli sell the bezzera BB004 which is the slightly newer model, but looks very similar etc, spring might be the same etc.
Attached is a pic of the underside of my doser when I pulled it to bits the other day.
As cheezel mentions the grinder is pretty much the same as the Bezzera BB95, the doser is identical in both. The newer Bezzera BB004 also has the same doser setup & uses the same spring. Have ordered the spring from Barazi in QLD, part number for the BB004 grinder is; 0BDF70, desc: SPRING STAINLESS STEEL SHEET. The item # on their exploded view is 12
Hope this is of help to someone at some stage.
