    Ascaso Inova I1 -I2

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Hi guys.

Does anyone have any info on this machine? It looks fantastic, and I was wondering how it would stack up against say an ECM K5.

It would be used mainly for espresso drinks.

The mini model also looks great.

    Scott.

http://coffeesnobs.com.au/YaBB.pl?num=1163934198/6#6 Veneziano have just added them to range ;-)

We have the KS- which is my chosen doserless grinder of the moment- albeit a tad more expensive. The ECM is stepped- as per the ECM Best- but the steps are small.

Im sure that Luca will be able to fill you in on the Ascaso

    Damn, got sprung by Chris!

I am pretty sure I will go with the ECM KS, but just kicking tyres.

You are very efficient Chris. :)

My day off, I better go do some work around the house.

    Scott.

    Hi guys,

    Thanks for the note, Chris.

Scott, if you would like to try out the i2, I would be happy to let you know when we have a few back in stock and we can pull some shots at First Pour. I havent used the i1 yet, but it has quite small diameter flat burrs, so I suspect that it will grind quite slowly. The mini is actually the grinder that I wanted to have a play around with, but I havent been able to get my hands on one thus far.

    Cheers,

    Luca

... well thats why we just got one in to try out. The burr diameter is listed all over the internet as 49mm, 50mm and 54mm, but the Ascaso webpage said 54mm, so I figured it was worth a shot. For reference, the Rocky burrs are listed as 50mm (rancilio webpage), 54mm and 55mm all over the net. Rather than just making presumptions, we thought that wed get one to check it out. What is nice is that the burr carrier on the i1 is metal.

    Cheers,

    Luca

    All in all Luca,

Its a pretty classy little grinder 8-) and on first looks, seems like it should give the Rocky D/L a good run for its money (for only a few dollars more that is ;)),

Thanks, Mal. Well have a play around with it and see what the price and performance are like. If we dont like it, we wont sell it.

Hahaha ... funny you should mention that. Dave Makin bought one as his competition grinder this year, based partly on people saying that the steps were small enough that it didnt matter. Anyhoo, we played around with it for a few weeks ... long story short; Dave ended up removing the stepped adjustment mechanism and bolting on his own locking pin to make it stepless! Should have stuck with the Robur!

    Cheers,

    Luca

Interesting...so when he needs to adjust its like a Mazzer (moving the collar)...but very free to move until the locking pin is in place?

Wish you could mix and match grinder designs...chuck a bnz doser on a robur...mmmmm.

Yes; its like the Rossi Conicals (Brasilia Competition + the standard one).

    Cheers,

    Luca
