Hip Hip Hooray.
Received this morning from Saeco:
"RE: MAZZER & CMA DISTRIBUTOR
I am not sure if you have already been informed that Saeco Int. Aust P/L no longer hold the distribution for MAZZER & CMA.
Apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused."
Hopefully a new importer will be appointed quickly. Supply this year has been laughable at best.....
Hip Hip Hooray.
Thanks, yes, we have received the same notification from Saeco, cant say it came as a surprise..
We are lucky to have never been under their mercy and to be able to keep our Mini Mazzers stock level unharmed...
I have received pricing from the new importer of Mazzer today.
CSers will be interested to know of new pricing structure..
RRP on Mazzer Mini-manual in black or silver is now $790
RRP on Mazzer Mini-electronic in black or silver is now $1190
RRP on Mazzer Kony in silver is now $2140
RRP of Mazzer Robur in black or silver is now $2990... :o
Now Im going off to pick myself up off the floor.... :-/
For sale (July onwards): Mazzer Mini manual (silver) at 10% OFF RRP!! :o ;)
I very much doubt that Greg. The distributor has set retail margins which are some of the tightest I have ever seen....so I reckon there will be a much better chance of seeing Pullman Tampers at 10% off :P
Realistically though, I cant see mazzer maintaining anywhere the market share that they have had pre 2007...Im still in shock..
thats like a $250 increase on the Robur...whoa. May as well buy the K10 for under $2000!
Nah what I meant is that Ill sell my Mini after July at 10% off its RRP at that time! Based on my last grinder sale it should last, ooh, about 5 minutes maybe? ;)Originally Posted by 2muchcoffeeman link=1182821699/0#5 date=1183019909
how much is a super jolly? $1175? just curious.
They have $1200 on the super jolly.....
:o I think Arrogant is the word for it.Originally Posted by 2muchcoffeeman link=1182821699/0#9 date=1183022969
Just caught up with this thread....
All I can say is unbelievable. I cant see too many sales at those prices.
However those who currently have them will be laughing all the way to the bank. Their second hand price has suddenly appreciated significantly.
Maybe as the pursuit of quality coffee equipment in Australia gains momentum, more and more wholesalers will try to increase their profit margin...... a sign of things to come (and the Aussie dollar is also so strong at the moment).....
Not to worry Greg;
Di Bartoli is here at the rescue.....
Mini Mazzers Manual Silver is still available at the old RRP (and thats before your CS discount... ;))
At least for as long as stock lasts..
Arrogant is not the word, realistic would be more apt.
SAECO have been loss leading Mazzer Grinders for years - in order to boost their espresso machine sales.
The margins they had on Mazzers were unsustainable to run a business and offer proper after sales, service and support.
Why do you think SAECO International threw out the Australian Owner/Management out of SAECO Australia - losing money hand over fist.
The prices now offered are more realistic.
We will see if the old part owner of SAECO Australia will be able to offer the same slim margins on Mazzer without the resources of his old business behind him - I very much doubt it. Most other Australian Agents of Mazzer have realized this - thus the current more realistic adjustment of Mazzer Prices.
You want to buy a BMW you have to pay BMW prices.
This isnt necessarily the reason.Originally Posted by Metreo link=1182821699/0#13 date=1183032531
If they were selling at a loss to boost their espresso machine sales then that was their perogative.
Saeco International should still have been receiving their wholesale price.
If Saeco International sold me a grinder and I sold it to you for $1 what business is it of theirs?
I have to cover the warranty. You are my customer, not theirs.
As for the prices being put up by a new local supplier, that is to be expected if the old one was selling at a loss.
Simple business maths.
Funny, these prices have been the RRP from another of my suppliers for years. I dont think its out of line, if you compare a Super Jolly to the Compak K6 the prices are fairly similar.
The great thing is that hopefully there will be stock! *[smiley=cheesy.gif]
If the supplier has some, Ill grab a few and they will be around for those who want one. A 5% discount will be possible for CSers buying one alone. Well discount them by 10% in packages...Guess we have to realise that the Mazzer honeymoon is over, but at least the party can now start again as there will be stock for all :)

I believe that was the point I was making. ;)
But the underlying fact is that we have been spoiled by the price that SAECO have been offering on Mazzer these past 5 years or so - the prices being offered now appear to be closer to to the mark.
Im really pleased to announce that the drought is over.
Talk Coffee will receive 10 x mini-manual in silver this week and the new supplier is keen to ensure that there is always stock of Mazzer in Australia.
There will be special CS pricing on the Mazzer mini which we will publish as soon as the formalities conclude.
It will be fantastic to see the brand well represented in Australia.
Its perfectly fine for a market leader to charge a premium just as long as they maintain all the other services:
1. right level of product stocking
2. promotional activities to promote product demand
3. improved channel partner management
5. spares and support coverage
Thats the only way from making a big business even bigger and better.
After a long wait, Im thrilled to announce that good stocks of Mazzer mini are again available.
We will extend a 5% discount on stand alone purchases and 10% to Mazzer minis purchased as part of a HX or dual boiler package.
Updating on grinder status- Mazzer mini is now in stock...On the way (eta late July) are Macap M4 stepless in chrome- which will most likely be a tad less expensive than Mazzers....Bling city!
I recently purchased a Macap M4 and what I can say so far is:Originally Posted by 2muchcoffeeman link=1182821699/15#21 date=1184800333
It looks even better on the bench than in the photo.
It is very quiet and smooth.
The doser lever is fluid in its action.
There are only a few grounds left on the doser floor after dosing.
Dosing into the portafilter is accurate with no mess even for a Greenbean like me.
The stepless adjustment is simple to use and works very well.
And most importantly my wife Maxine loves it as well.
do you know who the new Australian supplier is now? and by any chance have any contact details?
could you please supply me with the contact details of the person who is now importing and supplying mazzer grinders to Australia?
I suggest that you contact Mazzer Italy.
They will supply you with the details of your nearest distributor.

Mazzer does not have an exclusive importer and they have never had an exclusive importer. Saeco were the biggest importer and had prices slightly cheaper than everyone else. Maybe this was because they got a volume discount or maybe this was because they were making no money on Mazzer in order to sell their espresso machines. Im not sure, but they appear to be out of the picture now.
Mazzer will sell wholesale to anyone who meets the minimum order quantity. Many roasteries have imported direct in the past and continue to do so. We are one such roastery and have just recently placed an order on behalf of ourselves and a few other people. Our contact details are here. Im sure that there are others who you could contact as well.
Seems like the old Mazzer distributor is back in business again under another name - prices are certainly a bit higher than he used to offer. ;)
I think we all realised that previous pricing was not sustainable. Grinders were sold below cost to support machine sales.
Hopefully we will have consistent supply from here onwards...
