Another em0480 question ....   too fine

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Ok this is my first real grinder. Just used to the preground from merlo (I know stale)!!

Anway Ive been playing with it now for 2 weeks and just about ready to throw it off my deck. Im ready to give up my coffee obsession.

A couple of questions for those that have this machine and those that dont. When I look down the middle and change the settings from 1 to 20 I cant see the burrs changing? Should I be able to see any significant change?

Also when I grind it doesnt noticeably change the texture?

And another one. When I do pull my shot it seems too heavy and thick more like turkish coffee I would assume. When I do my tamp I am not doing it very hard at all. The shot is about 25 sec. and I think too fast but isnt weak is very strong.

I dont know if it is my machine or the grinder or is it me just not knowing what a good shot is like Aaaarrgghhhh!!!!!!. Ive got an old Saeco Magic that I am waiting to upgrade.

    Thanks heaps for your help

if you remove the hopper and cant see the inside circular bit not moving when you rotate the collar it might be out of place which is realy easy todo. you should see it move up and down 2-3 mm

The occasional EM0480 is known to have a similar problem to what you describe.
It might be that the burrs havent been assembled properly.
You might want to try following the cleaning instructions and pull it apart and reassemble (by the book).

Woohoo! It is a bit better. Well I can actually see more movement now like you said sullo.

And it tastes heaps better too.

I am still worried though that my markers dont line up exactly. I did have this thing running well for a couple of grinds and then it went crap again. If it goes crap again Ill be taking it back I think.

Like in another thread I dont think my top burr flat bit is aligned 100%. Its not way off but it is off a bit.

thanks again at least I can have a decent coffee now with my paper. Not like that yuck I had been throwing away :0
