Anfim KS burrs chirping at my espresso setting - how to fix?

    Hi all

I have an Anfim KS which has given me years of good service. I bought it second hand and when I got it, I found that when I dialled it down to the position I needed to produce perfect shots it would chirp just a tiny bit (burrs touching somewhere). Because it was very minimal I just ignored it.

Today I pulled the burr set out and gave everything a good clean, but when I put it back together the chirping was significantly worse. In fact I can't dial it down to the same setting I had it on before, because the burr contact is too significant.

There is nothing complicated to adjust on this burr set - just three screws on each of the top and bottom rings. Does anyone know how I can rebalance the burr set so that I can keep using it as before? I think this is some sort of alignment issue rather than an actual fault.

    Thanks

Did you get a bunch of static also when they started chirping? I found the burrs touched pretty easily over a small part of the rotation. Could never work out how to fix it.

If it’s had years of service are the burrs stuffed?

I presume you did not mark the position of the burrs and replaced them in a different spot - 33% chance of matching the original placement.

Id say its time for a new burr set. Theyre readily available and not particularly expensive.

You're right, but then when I realised it might have an impact I rotated the set, tested again, rotated again, tested again. I found the position that resulted in the least chirping, but it's still present and tbh I think LeroyC is right. To the finger the burrs are really not sharp at all. Getting a replacement set.
