    Mazzer Mini

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
I was just playing around with my brand new Mazzer mini this evening and found out that it wouldnt grind the beans at all if the setting is set at 7 or lower....

Is that normal or is there something wrong with my grinder??

Its probably because the burrs are together. You really shouldnt need to go anywhere near that fine. Thats even way below turkish.

Also, try to always have the grinder on when you go finer, so you can hear when the burrs meet. Avoids dangerous situations. Going coarser isnt a problem, and can be done with grinder off.

    O I see...
Does that mean that all the 0-7 settings are useless??

Not at all. I dont even bother with the numbers, however.

My reference point is the label on the collar (one with fino/grosso, etc.). For espresso/ristretto, Im about a couple cm left of the label. For plunger Im about 2 cm to the right. Never had to adjust much more than about 4cm all up. The settings Ive stated are for my machine. You need to dial in the grinder to see exactly where your optimal settings may be. Once dialed in, you wont ever have to turn the thing more than a few cm to go from espresso to plunger grind.
