    help for New Zealand

    Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    This comes from Whangarei 2 hours north of Auckland for those who havent been here! Unfortunately we dont have coffee equipment outlets here, so are reduced to about two options - Sunbeam or Breville.
    I am using a Gaggia Evolution and being new to "home brew" have so far only a blade grinder. I know its the pits so was wondering if it is feasible to buy from Australia. From the reading I have done, the Iberital Conical looks a good buy. Not too sure of the price but i think I could squeeze to that.
    I do have friends who regularly visit Brisbane, are there any outlets there?

    Fishey - try contacting Pomeroys in Nelson (google for website) and give them a call and they may be able to help you out.

    Currently they dont sem to have much of a range on their website (a bit disapointing) but they do have great coffee.

    The only other thing I could recommend is to contact the site sponsors and see what sort of deal they can do for you regarding sending something over.

    Good Luck

    Rocket Coffee roasters in Hamilton had the best price on a Mini Mazzer - they are on the net.

    I love the grinder :)

    Getting something brought in from Aus would be good, as you could knock the 10% GST off it (carry on luggage only though!) when you go through customs.

    Im sure there are plenty of retailers in Auckland though who would be willing to ship up to you.

    Or theres always Trademe :)

    If you want a cheap one I have had a Delongi from Harvey Norman (NZ) for about 3 years. Probably ground 60-80 kg of beans. Bit noisy but got a good test from consumer, above the La Pavoni Modello Jolly.
    * Price: $200
    * Good points
    Excellent results for fineness of grind. Very easy to use. Easy to empty and very easy to clean - no coffee particles fly out of the ground coffee compartment when you empty it. Very easy to adjust the fineness control. Comparatively quiet. Automatic timer for number of cups.

    Steve - the Delonghi will not be up to scratch for a Gaggia.

    Fishey, you could also try CPR coffee in Blenheim, this is where my family get their coffee from.

    Why do you say the Delonghi will not be up to scratch for a Gaggia. Technical explanation please. Shape of grinds, particle size grading, etc. I know it certainly grinds fine enough and particle size seems even under the scope as anything less than step 2 or 3 and its too fine for my Carimali but I would be keen to learn more on technicalities of grinding, what distinguishes a good grinder from a bad grinder other than brand. Might help me evaluate my next grinder (I was looking at a Macinino Prof. Inox. as I only grind for 3-4 cups at a time and bench space is limited)
