Mahlkonig Vario Grinder still good value?
Looking at an upgrade to my BSG Pro for new espresso machine. Originally I thought I could get away with the BSG grinder but it appears that the consistency of the grind is not the best for high end espresso.
Reading a lot of the CS posts, it seems the Niche Zero and Vario get good reviews.
The Vario seems to have been around a long time and hasn't changed. Is this still a 1 stop grinder for it's price and how robust are the plastic grind levers?

Iíve had a Vario for about a year now I think. Iíve had lots of grinders over the years and itís my favourite by far. I was aware of the slight weakness relating to the adjustment mechanism before I bought it but I got it for half price so was happy to give it a go. As long as you only ever adjust the grind while the burrs are spinning you shouldnít have a problem. If youíre the sought of person that is likely to forget this sort of thing or might find it a nuisance then this may not be the grinder for you. Otherwise itís an awesome espresso grinder. I single dose with it every day, clean it once a week or thereabouts with a vacuum and have given it one good clean this year with compressed air when it became clear that it was getting a bit clogged up. Iím a very happy Vario owner.
Also the current model is the 2nd or 3rd iteration. I canít remember exactly what changes were made to it since it was first introduced though sorry.
