Question Breville BCG450 GRINDER- different grind size issue

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Hi coffesnobs!

I have a Breville bcg450 grinder and it's producing different sized grinds even on extra fine setting.. was working up until two days ago.

Took out beans and did full clean but still having the same issue.

This is what the grinds look like now on extra fine setting. It seems like it's stuck on coarse setting.

Look forward to any input, thank you in advance!

    Hi Cire,

    Welcome to Coffeesnobs

To be honest I and im sure many people here wouldn't be surprised on what you are saying. not that for its price to grinder is suitable for some however if you are looking for a consistent grind i personal can say you wont find one on these. That said it may need some new burrs as they ones you have on it may have run their life.

Ive had one of these and like many it was suitable for me when i first started out. However looking back now i still never found even when new and with good burrs that it was never consistent.

Ps cant see your photo, but i remember what the grind looked like on extra fine and i believe you maybe getting clumpy coffee grinds.

    Kind regards

    Chris

Hi Chris thanks for the answer! Oh what a bummer and I just found out about this site which shows a mod for making grinds extra extra fine.. so I guess for the price of a new burr I might as well buy a new grinder...

Yes the grinds are clumpy big pieces... Luckily this was given to me by sister probably five or more years I think. I guess it lasted quite a long time I had a laugh
