    Yet more grinder advice please

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Hi everyone, Im a new member and Ive been thoroughly enjoying this site.

Id be grateful for some grinder advice. Im wanting a grinder to pair with my Rancilio Silvia. I currently have a Sunbeam EM0480 but Im having a touch of upgraditis and the mess from the Sunbeam is getting to me.

I had imagined the Rocky would be the perfect companion but I have read that the doser on the Doser version is not great, and that the Doserless can also be quite messy.

So that takes me into Mazzer, Macap or Compak territory, (quite a leap from the EM0480). Would such a purchase be way over the top for someone who only uses their machine four or five times a day, or would it be the start of a long and lasting love affair? In fact, should I be considering a doser if Im only making four or five cups a day?

any advice or recommendations would be welcome.

    thanks,
    Steve

    Hi Steve,

We at CS often say purchase the best grinder you can possibly afford. All of the brands that you have mentioned are excellent and all have slightly different attributes.

Im more than happy to run you through pros and cons of a range of grinders if yous like to give me a call...

    regards

    Chris

    tonto,

I have the Macap and love it.

I recently bought a EM0450 for use at work.
    It is messy.

Now Im only using the Macap for my morning cuppa and a few each day on the weekends.

This mornings one coffee was divine.
As far as Im concerned the Macaps not over the top.

Just purchased a new Compak K3 T from 2muchcoffee, thanks Chris. This seems an excellent match to my EM6910 once dialled in.

One question I did have. Do you find yourself clearing out the chute after every day to avoid the stale coffee that has just not managed to empty out? Or do you run the grinder for a while to clear out the last batch?

It just seems like a waste of a lot of coffee!
