    He got clogged.
I pulled him apart and vacuumed him out thoroughly but even though his little burrs spin round he doesnt spit out the grinds.
    Can anyone help me?

What do you mean by the above RH? Is this a rapid to and fro motion or does the rotor rotate for several revs one direction, stop and then rotate in the other direction?

it goes one way when I touch the switch then if I stop and wait for it to stop before switching it on again it might go the other way. It seems totally random! Effectively meaning I can grind if I happen to get it on the right turn?
    Bizarre!
    Help! :-?

    rayzurhed,

This is actually a common problem with AC motors. I am not familiar with the internals of the rocky, but I am prepared to bet if you open it up you will find something on the motor shaft that prevents it from turning one way. The idea behind this simple system is that if the motor starts up in the wrong direction it hits the stopper and that bounces it back in the previous direction - the momentum from this allows the motor to run in the corrct direction.

You may find that the stopper mechanism got clogged or something like that when you cleaned it out. If i can find the time tonight ill open my rocky and see if I can see such a mechanism.

What exactly did you do to clean it out (ie how far did you strip it?)

    Hmmm,

Could have a dodgy Start Capacitor or connection to same RH. If you dont mind disassembling Rocky down to its motor, etc you could probably check and test it yourself if you have access to suitable instruments (DMM). Failing that, you may have to bite the bullet and drop it into a licensed electrical repair workshop and let them do it for you. In reality, only a licensed sparky is authorised to do this work :(. All the best mate,

    Mal.

Thanks guys. I have got a local "fix it" shop lined up for Monday but in the meanwhile I might open Rocky up and have a gander. I will be careful. 8-)
    Thanks
