    Rancilio Silvia and accompanying Grinder?

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Geday everyone. :) My name is Gino and I am a first time user long time visitor. I am about to purchase the new Rancilio Silvia coffee machine. As you are all aware the machine is not the most important part of the equation… I am eager to purchase a grinder of equal quality. The Rancilio Rocky grinder seems to be the obvious choice? Does anyone have any feedback on this type of grinder? I am very keen to secure this purchase ASAP as I have way too much blood in my system and I need to get some coffee in there soon. Thanks. Gino

Gday Gino and welcome to CoffeeSnobs.
The Rocky grinder is a fine piece of kit and if it looked after, should last you a liftetime.
I owned a doserless version, others have the dosered version. I wont go into the pros and cons of each, as there are countless other discussions about that elsewhere here.
Have you considered any other grinders, or is your heart set on a Rocky? Im not trying to talk you out one by any means, but there are alternatives that may or may not be more suitable to your needs. Just a thought.
Another thought, where you buy the grinder from is just as important as what type of grinder you buy. Check the sponsor list to the left of the page (if you havent already), and you will get a good quality product with good quality service.
    Good luck with your purchase.

Have a look through this link (found at the top of the page of the "Grinders" category), lots of valuable info on a wide range of grinders to be found there :),

Hi Gino, Having owned a Sunbeam em0480, Gaggia mdf & Rocky,
I would have to say for doserless, rocky is worth the extra $$
But for doser I found the Gaggia MDF a verry capable grinder match to Silvia.
Like rocky very solid build, just depends on whether you like doser or doserless.I bought the em0480 as I didnt have the $ for rocky, & I regretted it.(lots of probs with this machine) & the Gaggia Mdf was dosered which is good when making many coffees but as I am the only one in my house who is a coffee addict, I found It cumbersome.
Of course if you can afford a Macap or Mazzer or similar, you would probably never need to upgrade later.

    Cheers,
    Shultzy
