best way of cleaning a grinder

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    hi CSs ,

just interested to see how other CSs clean thier burr grinders and how often they
    do it.

One thread I read somewhere on the www said to put rice in it and grind it to
absorb all the oils left behind by the coffee, then put through some old coffee to get
    rid of all the rice!

    what are your ideas?

Moby, best bet would be to give Pedro from Coffee Parts a call....and dont use rice unless you want to ruin your grinder!

Best way to clean the grinder will be by using Grindz tablets for grinder.

I think that the best way of cleaning out a grinder is to do the job properly. Remove the upper burr carrier and have a good brush/vacuum, lubricate as appropriate with food grade lubricant and reassemble. If there is a doser, this can be pulled down as well and the various nooks and crannies done as well...

For those not inclined- there are packet cleaners- however they are not the best way IMHO....

pulling the machine apart only needs to be done on a yearly basis, with grinder tablets used every 6 months. assuming your not grinding 20 kilos a week!
