    ISOMAC GRINDER OR ROCKY OR.......

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Hi there folks. I love reading all the stuff on here, but with so much information, I now have the difficult task of making a decision.

So, I need to buy a new grinder. I have the Gaggia Classic at home that when paired with ground coffee from down the street, pulls a fantastic shot! However, when paired with my reasonably average delonghi grinder, pulls a reasonably average (really average most of the time) shot.

My budget is $350-500 and I have been eyeing off the Rancilio Rocky, however, stumbled across an ISOMAC grinder yesterday and was told it is the identical replica of the big commercial isomac grinder with ceramic burrs. I am having difficulty finding anything about the grinder other than the sales pitch.

For my budget can anyone advise which machine to get to pair with my Classic.

    Thanks![

    Hi Turk1,

Have a browse through the Information/review of grinders section and also look at some of the site sponsers sites. Ths should give you an idea of whats about.

For $500, with a bit of haggling, you may just be able to get a Compak K3 Touch. Its a solid machine which should last you as long as you want to keep it.

Definitely talk to some sponsors and spend as much as you can on a grinder.

Wow, youre a long time lurker!

at this price Id probably go for a K3 Touch or ECA KS (doserless mod it) or even the Ascaso i-Mini (slow, cheap and okay). Visit one of the site sponsors where you can try them all!

Oddly enough I own both - PM sent re the Rocky, Im keen on upgrading to a MM/Macap etc.
I first bought the Isomac Granmacinino which is not too bad, prolly on a par with the Rocky.
Dunno about ceramic burrs. I stuffed mine anyway as I cleaned it with rice (thanks for nothing Home-Barista.com) but my father is using it with his Isomac Mondiale with no problems at all.
It is reasonably noisy though, and the chute isnt well engineered - youll have trouble getting a PF underneath and still get all the coffee in the basket.

    Dave.
