    Compak K3 Touch Settings

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    GDay all

Im thouroghly enjoying some great results with my new grinder! ::) I like switching between different roasts & I love the fact that the grinder is stepless, however the K3T has fairly broad markers & I need a simple way to mark the grinder when changing settings! :-?

I was wondering what others in Coffee Snob land use to mark settings on their stepless grinders?

    Dots of white paint!
    "Whiteout" works quite well too.

    Hi Andrew,

My advice is its best to forget about the collar of your grinder. Lock in your method and calibrate by the pour...

I have a K8 and use a soft pencil to make marks on the hood [the cover of the doser]
I realise you dint have a hood but would assume the K3s plastic will be be the same so a pencil should work OK.

I like to roast seperately, then blend, but I also keep some of each SO aside so I can sample these throught the week.

I find I end up with 3 or 4 marks, which are really only a guide [as the beans age and the humidity/temperature changes the optimun grind setting changes].
I find its pretty easy to keep track of where the setting needs to be for each blend/bean by having tghe marker a a starting point.

The marks just rub off with a wet finger

Im with Chris - have a K10 and though its marked with settings, I would never have a clue what the setting is...I just watch the pour.

    Thanks for your help!

I agree that the pour is the most important thing to watch.:) *I guess I just wanted a simple technique to mark a general reference point on the collar for different roasts!

    Thanks again 8-)

I find with the Elite (same model) that a setting of around the 2 mark (off to the right of center) is a good start - I always tend around the 1 1/2 mark to a bit over the 2 mark with most roasts.
Have a look at Gregs review for finer settings - http://www.coffeetamper.com.au/kb/reviews/mini-k3/#grind-adjustment-scale,
    Cheers, jon
