    Heatgun Vs Portable Electric Hotplate

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Hi guys, im in the process of building a roaster, and im tossing up between either a 2000W electric hot plate, or a Heatgun.

    Any Input would be great.

The roaster is built out of an old pot with a stirring mechanism powered by a low rpm high torque motor from above.

Also building a cooler, is pushing or pulling air across the beans better?

    Cheers.

I reckon the heat gun as the heat is more evenly distributed (in my *opinion) through the beans as they agitate...a hotplate would have too much risk for burning and hot spots due to the direct contact with a hot surface.

As for the cooler blowing will produce a higher rate of flow through the beans I think

I prefer to suck air through the beans from below.
No risk then of blowing them away.
